What is the Third Eye Chakra? Healing with Meditations, Crystals and Color Therapy
Updated: Sep 14, 2020
The third eye chakra, or the Anja, is the sixth chakra. It is positioned between your two eyebrows. This chakra is interpreted to symbolize a variety of things. For one, because of its position at the center of the eyes, the third eye chakra symbolizes intuition or a sixth sense if you will. It functions as a portal to the parts of this world that we cannot physically observe or quantify.
It is the culmination of our subconscious, consciousness and your “gut feelings” allowing these three to interact in ways that sometimes are mysterious and serendipitous.
Just like any other chakra, the third eye chakra can get blocked. Blockage of the third eye chakra can block our vision and intuition. When this happens, you’ll find it difficult to lean into your sixth sense and doubt and/or reject your intuition. You’ll also have trouble from a visual perspective: you’ll have trouble envisioning your purpose and desires. As a result of not being able to translate your vision for yourself, you may feel lost, confused, or stuck.
A full functioning throat chakra is when you truly give in to your intuition and have clarity in our vision.

Third Eye Chakra Stones
Amethyst- Amethyst acts on the mind by dispelling nightmares and insomnia and helping to soothe the mind of worries, stress, and tension, It also helps relieve migraines and headaches, promotes intuition and psychic awareness.
Moonstone- A stone of inner growth and strength and provides calmness, enhances intuition and promotes clairsentience.
Rutilated Quartz- This quartz is an illuminator for the soul and spiritual growth, great for telepathic communication, enhances one’s psychic abilities. Setting an intention with this stone rapidly manifests.
Black Obsidian- This stone is ideal to have when working with the Third Eye chakra. It keeps you grounded and protected when activating the higher spiritual chakras.
When working with the Third Eye chakra, you would be surprised how vivid and lucid dream time will be. I suggest getting a dream journal and jotting down whatever you remember. Usually the most prominent messages will appear when you’re in the dream time lull between sleep and waking up.
Color Therapy: Indigo
Indigo is another night time color. A gorgeous hue, you may experience this color right after the sun sets. You will see the purple sky turn to the dark blue and these colors are associated with the Third Eye chakra. Stargazing is the perfect activity to ease into a third eye meditation. Simply wait and see the insights pouring in.
A full functioning third eye chakra is vital for foresight and envisioning. If it’s blocked, using third eye chakra stones and participating in mediations or color therapy can help this chakra get back to functioning at its best.
